Near Nantes, in Saint Herblain, SBC designs, manufactures and markets workshop tippers. As well as construction equipment, forklift accessories and materials handling equipment.

The company has been able to adapt and meet the needs of a wide range of sectors, including metal processing, plastics, chemicals, food processing, viticulture, construction and trade. This ability has enabled the company to satisfy its customers on a regular basis and to grow.

An industrial success story since 1960

Paul Bricaud founded Etablissements Bricaud in Nantes in 1960. And to manufacture lifting and handling equipment for industry and construction. Handling buckets for machine shops quickly became one of the company’s core activities. In 1968, Etablissements Bricaud moved to Saint Herblain to build new premises (at SBC’s current address) and diversify into subcontracting for the aeronautical and naval industries. At the time, handling skips represented less than 10% of Etablissements Bricaud’s business.

In 1985, Paul’s children, Martine and Jean Paul Bricaud, created SBC to specialize in tippers and develop this business. Since the first patent for the self-releasing tipper in 1992 and the first patent for construction site tippers in 2008, SBC’s business has developed around two areas: industry and construction. Production management has been computerized since 2005. And the extension of the premises in 2013, with the purchase of an adjoining building, has enabled the industrial facilities to keep pace with this development.

In 2015, Pascal Rouchet became the manager and sole shareholder of SBC, following Jean Paul’s retirement. SBC is an independent company on a human scale that continues to grow in each of its fields.

High-performance products

All SBC products respect three major qualities: Ergonomics, Durability and Competitiveness.

Ergonomics

SBC has designed all its products with the ergonomics and safety of the operators in mind. Customers can rest assured that their operators handle our products with complete peace of mind. In fact, SBC has invented automatic contact unlocking. This allows forklift operators to activate the tipping function and automatically re-engage the tipper by simply touching the edge of the manifold. As a result, forklift operators no longer need to get off their forklift or manipulate a lever by hand. What’s more, the edges of all our handling bins are folded, tumbled and edged to avoid protruding corners. This protects operators from any risk of injury. The wide rim also prevents pinching, providing additional safety.

Durability

All our products are handled either to transport waste or materials, or because they are installed and de-installed on construction sites. To meet these requirements, our customers need to be able to rely on their unfailing robustness. That’s how we chose the sheet thickness for each of our models. This provides impact resistance and optimizes weight. The payloads of our wheels are guaranteed by approved laboratories.

What’s more, our equipment is protected against corrosion by environmentally-friendly paints from French manufacturers.
All our handling equipment is CE-compliant.

Competitiveness

SBC combines French quality with the competitiveness of a cost-conscious SME, because it caters to professionals. As an independent company, SBC reinvests mainly in its operating facilities and in the development of new products. Our design office is able to propose solutions that meet your budgetary requirements.

Comprehensive ranges

In over 50 years, SBC has expanded its product range. It now offers over 20 families of workshop tippers designed to meet the needs of different trades. Over the years, the company has enriched its catalog with numerous options to offer customized, competitive solutions. Our in-house design office is able to respond to customized requests. This represents almost 40% of the company’s business. SBC currently holds some fifteen active patents.
